Govind Ramnath Kare College of Law

karecollege1This was the first College of Law in South Goa, started with a generous contribution from Shri Govind Ramnath Kare. Inaugurated in 1979 by Prof. Ram Joshi, Vice-Chancellor, University of Bombay, the College commenced by sharing premises with Shree Damodar College of Commerce & Economics. The new building was inaugurated in 2001 by no less a personality than Shri Arun Jaitley, Hon’ble Union Minister for Law and Judiciary, in the presence of Shri Ramakant Khalap and Hon’ble Chief Minister of Goa, Shri Manohar Parrikar.

The College is the only institution providing professional legal education in South Goa, by offering B.A.LL.B, LL.B.(Hons), LL.B. (Degree), LL.M. and several Diploma and certificate courses through its IGNOU Law Centre. The institution is situated on a spacious land at Tansor – Comba, Margao in a multi-storeyed building, at the heart of a beautiful scenic environment, providing a conducive atmosphere for learning. It has spacious and well-ventilated classroom space and contains state-of-the-art facilities to make legal education a memorable experience, which includes an independent Computer Laboratory, well-equipped Library and other opportunities for academic growth in terms of advocacy skills and practical training exposure as also good sports facilities.

Since 2007, the College has been publishing an annual Law Journal, which is widely circulated and has been very well received by the legal fraternity.
