State Level Quiz “IT Quest Excellence”

The Cultural Council in collaboration with the Computer Science Department of Shree Damodar College of Commerce & Economics organised a One Day State Level quiz “IT Quest Excellence”on 16th January 2015 for the students of various higher secondary schools (Beginners level) and under graduate colleges (Advanced level).

A total of 7 teams (each consisting of two students) have registered for each level of the Quiz competition. A preliminary written test was conducted in the college campus to select 4 teams for the final round. In the final round, a total of six questionnaire rounds were conducted for the 4 finalist teams of each level.

RMS Higher Secondary School, Margao were the Winners & Smt. C.T.N Higher Secondary School, Curchorem were the Runner-Up from the Beginners level and Dnyanprasarak Mandal, Mapusa were the Winners & Rosary College of Commerce & Arts, Navelim were the Runner-Up from the Advanced level.

The quiz master for the beginners level was Mr. Shreyas Dessai and Mr. Sumit Kumar, Asst. Prof. , Computer Science Department for the advanced level.

Anantara 2015 (VVA Primary/Secondary Section)

anantaraThe Student Council and Cultural Council of VVM’s Shree Damodar College of Commerce and Economics organized a two day State Level Intercollegiate Event “Anantara 2015” . The 5 student officials , 38 event managers and more than 200 volunteers were working tirelessly for almost two months to make this event the best it could be. The mega event was a mix of 27 events like Blabber mouth, Shout it out , Brainstorm, Cuisine-De-Anantara, FIFA, Are you mad enough ? Flamboyant, Business Tycoon, Tug of war, lagori , 5-a-side-football ,Dota2, Gali Gali mein shor hain , Mr.Anant and Ms.Tara ,Clash of the DJs, Ice breaker, Selfie contest, Capture it , Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, which gave the students an opportunity to demonstrate a wide spectrum of talent , teamwork and sportsmanship.

Finally , after all the hustle and bustle , running and racing , singing and dancing , gaming and sporting quizzing and debating , winning and losing , the pandemonium came to a climax at the prize distribution ceremony where Rosary College of Arts and Commerce was declared the winner and M.E.S College of Arts and Commerce were the first runners up and Smt. Chowgule college of Arts and science was the second runners up. The Chief Guest for the function was Mr. Ganesh Daivajna , President Vidya Vikas Mandal , Guest of Honour Mr Nitin Kunkolienkar, First Vice President of Vidya Vikas Mandal along with special invitees Mr Girish Chodankar and Mr. Santosh Desai.

All in all it was an event which has left lasting memories in the minds of the organizers , participants and all those who were present to witness the happenings.

Activities held during the month of November at G.R.Kare College of Law

  1. Blood donation camp in as with Rotary Club, Margao & Inaugural of Red Ribbon Club took place on the 21st Nov.2014
  2. A lecture series “GRK TALK” was inaugurated on the 22nd Nov.2014 by Adv. Ramakant Khalap. He delivered a lecture on ‘Courts & Justice in India’.
  3. The second lecture of “GRK Talks” was delivered by Senior Advocate Girish Jaytiani on the topic “Law in real world”.
  4. The 10th December was observed as the Human Right Day in association with the International Human Rights Association. Adv. Amira Razak & Adv. Bernand D’Souza spoke on the topics Right to Information Act and Importance of Human Rights respectively.
  5. The third lecture of the “GRK Talks” was held on the 13th December 2014. Shri. Mahendra Caculo Spoke on the topic ‘Striving for Excellence.
  6. A Quiz Competition and an Essay Competition on the topic “My Dream Library” or ‘21st Century Library’was organized by Librarian of GRKLC Shri. Anand Salve.
  7. Library Day was Collectively organized by VVM’s Librarians on the 15/12/2014
  8. Talent Search Competition like debate, face painting, poster making, hair styling, mehndi, elocution, show case your latent, voice of Kare , visit to orphanage etc were held during the week between 15th to 22nd December 2014.
  9. A Training session on Client Counseling for Moot Court Society Student was organized on the 18th December 2014. Dr. M.R.K. Prasad and B.R. Patil of V.M. Salgaocar College, Miramar-Goa wre the resourse persons.

Library Day Celebration – Off Stage Events (Kare College)

23On the eve of VVM’s Second Library Day Celebration 2015, many Off-Stage events were conducted by VVM libraries from 9th December 2015 to 12th December 2015 wherein students of all the Four institution namely G.R.Kare College of Law, Shree Damodar College of Commerce and Economics, R.M.S. Higher Secondary School and Vidya Vikas Academy, participated in various events like Poster Competition, Book Mark Competition, Designing Cover Page of a book, Extempore and Book Review.

M.O.V.E. Programme conducted by HMNG IMTR

HMNG IMTR conducted the programme M.O.V.E.(Managing & Organising VVM Events) for senior faculty of all VVM Institutes on 6th December 2014 as part of Saturday Sharing. The President VVM inaugurated the event.

S.C.O.P.E. Programme conducted by HMNG IMTR

HMNG IMTR conduced the programme S.C.O.P.E. (Students Council Overall Personality Development) for 30 Students Council members of VVA, Damodar College, Kare law Collehge and RMS Higher Seconday on 5th December 2014. The programme was conduced by Atul Shah and Pecci Athayde.

Residential Programme for Women Scientists conducted by HMNG-IMTR

HMNG-IMTR conducted a residential programme for Women Scientists from all over the Country on “Communication and Presentation Skills” from 8-12 December 2014. The scientists were from 14 Organisations including Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC), Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), etc. The Director IMTR inauguarated the programme.

IMTR conducts Stress Management Training for IFS Officers

The VVM’s HMN Gaunekar Institute of management Training & Research (IMTR) is conducting a week long residential training programme on Stress Management for senior IFS Officers, from the Ministry of Environment, Forests & Climate Change, from all over the country at the International Centre.

The President of VVM Shri G.Daivajna lit the traditional lamp to commence the programme in the presence of the Director IMTR and pilot trainer of the programme Atul Shah.

Mr. Daivajna in his address emphasised on the need to have a simpler life and be consciously aware of all the areas that are stressful. The Director IMTR Atul Shah welcomed the delegates and presented an overview of the programme.

The delegates include senior Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (PCCFs) ,APCCFs, Directors of related organisations and other senior IFS Officers. The delegates have arrived from 14 states/Union territories including J & K, West Bengal, Maharashtra, MP, Andhra Pradesh, Delhi, Gujerat, Karnataka, Orissa, Punjab, Uttaranchal, Kerala, etc.

The one week programme adopts a holistic view of Stress management and includes sessions on strategic work-life balance, the changing science of stress, the enveloping time pressures, Pareto and stress, demystifying the mind-body-soul philosophy, propelling interpersonal relationships, etc. The programme adopts a practical design with sessions including yoga for the working man, mudras for stress free life, Tai-chi being included. The programme is being conducted by a team of 7 faculty members.

Library Day Celebration

The four institutions of Vidya Vikas Mandal namely Shree Damodar College of Commerce and Economics, G.R. Kare College of Law, R.M.S. Higher Secondary School and Vidya Vikas Academy jointly celebrated Library Day on 15th December 2014. Dr.Gopakumar Librarian of Goa University was the Chief Guest for the occasion. The President of Vidya Vikas Mandal Shri. Ganesh Daivajnya, First Vice- President Shri Nitin Kunkolienker, Chief Librarian of Vidya Vikas Mandal Ms. Manasi D. Rege, Board members of Vidya Vikas Mandal and all Principals of Vidya Vikas Mandal’s institution were present for the function.

The major highlight was the launching of Library App. for each institution which was developed and designed by Mr. Rupesh Shirodkar, System Administrator of Vidya Vikas Mandal. The President inaugurated the renovated and technology enabled reading room with facilities like Wi-fi enabled VU to use e-resources, soft music in the background with enriched ambience. The Chief Guest in his speech lauded the initiative taken by Vidya Vikas Mandal and congratulated it for launching the Library App which is the first of its kind in India. He also stressed that all the libraries need to be technology enabled.

The event was also marked the culmination of the week long activities like Story Telling, Quiz, Essay, Poster and Photography. Prizes were distributed of the events conducted and the vote of thanks was proposed by Ms. Archana Pednekar, Librarian of Vidya Vikas Academy.

Money Matters

R.M.Salgaocar H.S.S has won the Winners Trophy in “Money Matters”, a one day Financial Talent Search Fest organised by Shree Damodar College of Commerce and Economics on 29th Nov 2014.

Our students have won this competition amongst 5 other H.S.Schools and 6 other undergraduate degree colleges.
